Our Vision?
We want to be able to provide homes for children in poverty, world-wide, offering them not just the basics to survive (food, clothes & accommodation), but also provide a loving, spiritual environment which will look after them as people, personalities, individuals with potential!
BUT … why stop there?
If you are making a difference in the children, then you make a difference in the society too. So we want to look at community projects that help to bring stability & sustainability to everyone in and around the home.
Ideas: schools, farms, medical centres, small businesses … the list is endless.
So, it is important that we spend the time getting to know the local leaders & their vision before we commit to getting involved. This means that some things will take a little longer than we would like, but being involved with children’s lives is precious and so we want to ensure that any involvement will benefit them in the long run, rather than just fizzle out when people get bored.
These are not pet projects! These are lifetime investments!
And how do we do this?
We’ve started by providing funding for a home where children can be educated, fed, clothed & shown compassion. We care about who they are as individuals. And so, our first Have Faith Home came about.
Because we believe in a holistic approach, we have certain criteria that need to be met for a Have Faith Home:
-
- Good solid buildings – clean & comfortable (culturally relevant)
- Loving House Parents who are educated & able to help the children with their studies
- A good cook to look after all those hungry bellies!
- A school in a nearby location that will accommodate the children
- Access to clean water & medical care
- A children-friendly church who are committed to the loving, spiritual direction of the home’s charges.
This may mean that, at some stage, we might have to coordinate some of these things being put into place.
Lastly
We want to help the communities raise their profile & funding on a long term basis, so it’s vital the people who will be running this are: local, have a fairly good level of education & are known and trusted by their local community. Each HF Home will remain under our umbrella organisation, yet remain autonomous. As of 2021, we have one home that we support in India which is currently still closed due to COVID-19. This will remain shut until India’s Covid infections come down and the government releases schools & hostels to reopen – but the charity continues to support the children to attend school from their family homes.
