Home > Have Faith India > WOW: Sukumar Fund Donations Reach £4,892.00!!!

As you may well know, on the 24th January we launched an appeal to raise £4,500 which needed to be paid by the end of February, for hospital bills for young Sukumar who had to have life-saving heart surgery. Sukumar is one of the lovely 68 children resident in the orphanage called Neil’s Home in Nuzvid, Andhra Pradesh province, southern India.

Thanks to the extraordinary generosity of many people in the UK, Paderborn (Germany) and elsewhere, the target has actually been exceeded. As of the 21st February, the amount donated has reached £4,892!!! We have already paid the bill.

This is truly wonderful and the money left over after paying the hospital bill will now be put towards ongoing medication for Sukumar which is expected to be for the rest of his life. So thank you, thank you, thank you, to all the people who have donated and made such a difference.

Meanwhile, Sukumar is recovering and regaining strength at his family home and will return to the orphanage (and school!) later in the year. And the medical and surgical team, with the head of the hospital, have visited Neil’s Home, where they gave a thorough medical examination of all the children, promising to do it on an annual basis – free of charge! So we are also extremely thankful to them and to The Lord for all that has been done.
