It’s been hard work but momentum is gaining ground.
Shanta is going back to India for a month. She is so excited and we’ve bought lots of chocolates (bargaining power with the children – if needed!) and new socks and pants, courtesy of the brilliant prices at Tesco; it’s cheaper to buys the packs of socks, pants and vests here for the children, than it is in India, such is the cost of living in India at the moment.
The Indian cost of living has gone up dramatically – although we benefited from the best exchange rate there has ever been. On a monthly basis we now have to find an additional £200 per month. We’ve always prided ourselves on how well we feed the children – but the price of rice (we now get through 600kgs per month) and fresh vegetables, means we really do appreciate any additional monthly support folks can muster.
